Emma Algeri is a versatile singer and actress. Originally from Sydney, she began formal acting training at NIDA. At 19 years old, Emma decided to move to Melbourne to expand upon her acting training, however she found herself in a musical theatre course where singing was the main focus. She fell in love with the nature of musical theatre, combining her passion for acting and storytelling with music and dance. The opportunities began to flow and she was singing at corporate events, awards nights and acting in short films. In 2020 she collaborated with a professional pianist/accompanist and wrote and produced her own one woman show Svetlana, which ran for a week in Melbourne. The season was cut short due to the sudden lockdowns and Emma found herself looking for a new craft to hone. She began classical singing lessons under the guise of Sydney Conservatorium and Melbourne Conservatorium singing teachers who claimed Emma had ‘the anatomy of an opera singer, a gift not to be wasted.’ In 2021 Emma commenced a bachelor of Classical singing which she is currently undertaking.
I have been teaching singing to a range of students for the past year. From a 2 year old through to a 22 year old. My belief is that confidence, audacity and self assuredness triumphs natural ability. Having studied practical anatomy of the voice at tertiary level, I am passionate about vocal health and knowledge. I have been able to maintain my vocal standards through having Covid and other external stressors on the voice such as Melbourne weather. With a physiological focus, I like to begin with the fundamentals of singing to ensure the singer is set up for longevity and success. Half the lesson will be dedicated to warming up with vocal exercises, and the other half will be dedicated to working on your chosen repertoire.
