Bio

KIDKO PERFORMING ARTS SCHOOL and CHAMBERS MUSIC are the creations of husband and wife team Rebecca Chambers and Greg McMaster.

Rebecca is a concert pianist and Greg an accomplished vocalist, they reside in Albert Park with their son, Fox.

With twenty years of teaching experience, Rebecca is one of Australia’s most prominent musicians, having performed on four continents and is the 1996 Young Australian of the Year.

KIDKO is a place where children can explore their love of the performing arts, and music, in an environment which is inclusive and encouraging.

Our after school classes incorporate the 3 disciplines of singing, dance, and drama, so that parents don’t have to take their children to multiple classes.

The sessions are taught by industry professionals, with a high teacher to student ratio. We have created a structured program for children which is high quality, fun, and relaxed.

At CHAMBERS MUSIC, our focus is high quality private tuition in piano, voice, violin, cello, guitar, drums, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, song writing, composition and music theory. We incorporate contemporary methods to inspire young musicians and place focus on the special relationship and rapport between student and teacher.

We feel confident that every child will thrive from the fun and the discipline of learning new skills. We will encourage them to embrace new challenges, especially when presenting their skills in front of peers and adults. We also know that the exhilaration and pride they will feel when performing will be rewarding.

Our chosen profession is so much more than teaching a skill… we share in the lives of the children and watch them develop. We consider it a privilege when students share with us … their exciting news, fears or special adventures.

We have recently expanded our teaching academy in Albert Park to accommodate the growing number of children in the area. We are very proud of our 4 state of the art music and performance studios, one with Rebecca’s Grandmother’s Steinway Grand Piano.

Through out the year we hold Soirees and Concerts at our wonderful new performance studio. These performances inspire the children and give them a sense of achievement and pride. It is a positive and uplifting experience for all. We prepare students for AMEB and Rockschool exams and there is an option to sit the exam at our studio.

We search extensively through our own network and beyond to find instructors and teachers who are exceptionally talented performers and experienced educators, who are passionate about inspiring children.

“My mother, Gloria Jordan has been a piano teacher for over 40 years, and was one of the first teachers of the Suzuki Approach, when it was introduced to Australia. What an incredible apprenticeship I had, observing her teach from a very young age.

Now, having taught for 20 years, I still feel inspired to grow and continue learning more about the craft of music teaching. I have found over the years that it is often the student who enlightens me with a little gem of insight and wisdom.”   – Rebecca Chambers
