Bio
Emily is passionate about teaching and encourages students from 5 upwards. She loves passing on her knowledge and experience to help her students achieve their dreams while encouraging body awareness.
She will tailor a program to suit your desired outcome, setting achievable goals in a relaxed environment.
Exams with “Trinity College London” are encouraged but not essential. Students under Emily’s instruction have averaged 91.7% since she began her school “Angels on Strings”.
Regualr concerts are held giving students the opportunity to play to the very supportive and encouraging harp community Emily has built.
Song writing and composition is also available within the lesson as well as recording your work in “The Harp Lab”.
Teaching Info
When you come for your first lesson you will be introduced to the different types of harp and how you should approach the instrument with regards to posture and healthy playing habits. My teaching method is ‘Salzedo”, developed by Carlos Salzedo and taught to his prodigy Alice Chalifoux and then to my harp teacher Xanya Mamunya. I believe what I have learned through Salzedo method and through my own life experience with harp, is that all activity, must be approached with relaxation and breath work in order to connect to the music in the moment and to release tension in the body and the mind. This will then allow the music to be felt and shared effectively.
